Following Brexit, according to the UK Government's announcement, from January 1, 2021 products sold in the UK market (England, Wales, and Scotland) must comply with the UK conformity assessment and be labeled with the “UKCA” logo to meet the relevant UK standards and regulatory requirements. Therefore, importers need to ensure their imported products entering the UK market have UKCA compliance assessment data and the UK Declaration of Conformity (DoC). The UK DoC is similar to the EU DoC, but the British regulations (BS EN) and designated standards must be listed on the UK DoC, rather than EU regulations/directives and standards.

Until December 31, 2021, the UK market can still accept products with the CE mark. However, starting January 1, 2022, products sold in the UK with only the CE mark will not be recognized, and the UKCA logo will be required in the UK market for an imported product to be sold legally. If products comply with both the UK conformity assessment and the EU regulations, both UKCA and CE logos may be marked.  

Regarding placement of the UKCA mark, during the grace period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2022, the UKCA mark and relevant importer and manufacturer information can be placed on the product body, packaging, or document. However, starting from January 1, 2023, the UKCA logo must be marked on the product body.
