MEAN WELL Founder Jerry Lin Receives Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from National Taipei University

MEAN WELL Group and SDG Group founder Jerry Lin was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by National Taipei University on May 30, 2026, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the power supply industry, sustainable corporate development, professional management systems, talent cultivation, and corporate social responsibility. Guided by the spirit of “benevolence,” he has dedicated decades to advancing the power supply industry and promoting SDG-driven sustainable development, setting a benchmark for corporate excellence. Founded by Jerry Lin in 1982, MEAN WELL has grown from Taiwan into a global leader in standard power supplies. Its products are widely used in industrial automation, medical equipment, renewable energy, transportation, ICT, and LED lighting applications. Over the years, the company has expanded its global presence through strong R&D, manufacturing, and distribution networks, while earning numerous prestigious awards in business excellence and sustainability governance, including the Taiwan Excellence Awards, the National Sustainable Development Award, the Corporate Environmental Protection Award, and the CommonWealth Magazine Corporate Sustainability Citizen Award, among others.

For decades, Jerry Lin has been committed to building professional management systems and sound corporate governance to ensure sustainable growth and talent development. He has also strengthened succession planning, positioning MEAN WELL as a long-term, competitive, and sustainable enterprise. In response to global sustainability trends, he established SDG Group in 2021, transforming ESG principles into concrete industrial practices through investments in green energy and sustainable development initiatives, driving industrial transformation and upgrading. Embracing lifelong learning, he earned a master’s degree from the College of Management at Fu Jen Catholic University in 2023. The honorary doctorate from National Taipei University marks another milestone in his continuous integration of academic pursuit and industrial leadership.

During the conferment ceremony, Jerry Lin shared insights from more than four decades of entrepreneurship with National Taipei University graduates. He emphasized that long-term success depends not only on knowledge and skills, but also on one’s attitude when facing challenges. He encouraged graduates to continuously strengthen learning ability, set long-term goals, and embrace rapid industry change and global competition with an open mindset. He also shared that during his early international expansion years, he maintained a daily habit of learning English despite a demanding business schedule, highlighting that capability is built through consistent practice and long-term discipline.

Guided by the MEAN WELL philosophy of “having good intentions,” he has long been committed to philanthropy and education. He donated to National Taipei University to support the construction of the MEAN WELL Charity Building at its Sanxia campus, promoting arts and sustainability education while giving back to society and supporting higher education development. In recognition of his contributions, he was also named an honorary alumnus of the university. In addition, MEAN WELL announced a contribution of NT$100 million to establish the “MEAN WELL Foundation Sustainability Fund,” which will support National Taipei University's efforts in talent recruitment, talent retention, and institutional development. This initiative reflects MEAN WELL’s continued commitment to advancing higher education and cultivating future talent through concrete action. Looking ahead, MEAN WELL and SDG Group will continue to invest in green energy and sustainable development, striving to build a more resilient and sustainable future for the next generation.
